Theo Supports GMO Labeling & I-522

Our Commitment to Transparency

Seven years ago Theo was founded with a commitment to transparency as one of our core values. We believe in sharing clear and comprehensive information about our business practices from farm to factory. We support transparency in food labeling as an extension of this philosophy. When consumers are able to make informed purchasing decisions, it has the potential to benefit their well-being and that of their families, communities, and the environment.

We Support I-522

This November Washingtonians will vote on Initiative 522, which calls for labeling on foods containing genetically modified organisms, also known as GMOs. By participating in the dialogue, we aim to help our employees, customers, business partners, and the public gain a deeper understanding of this highly complex issue

  • The FDA requires manufacturers to label nutritional content, ingredients, and allergens present in foods available for consumer purchase. We view labeling of GMOs as a natural progression in equipping consumers to make informed decisions.
  • We acknowledge GMO technology may have the potential to drive positive social and environmental impacts such as increased crop yields and improved nutritional value. However, further research is required to determine the safety and feasibility of such solutions.
