Customer Testimonials

We LOVE hearing from our customers. Since most of our website consists of Theo telling you about Theo, we thought it would be nice to share some input from folks outside of the factory.

Warning: some of the emails below are very entertaining!

PLEASE – email and tell us what you think!

"Overall, I achieved precisely what I came in wanting, a bunch of great chocolate at a great deal. But, my main purpose isn’t to brag about that, but to exhibit a great situation where, unlike a lot of companies, Theo recognized me as an individual with individual circumstances, then did their best to fit what they do with what I wanted. Currently I think corporations, which are simply collections of humans, almost universally refuse to deal with individual humans as such, and only recognize bargaining power in other corporations or other mass groups of individuals. But then who are we serving? I exist on a human level, I want to increase the happiness of humans and help preserve their existence, I feel no desire to, like a social insect, sacrifice myself so that some larger genetic unit, some colony can reproduce. In addition to their sense of fun embodied in the chocolate buddha heads and chocolate hammers they had lying around, I think this quality, a collection of humans serving individual humans is what makes Theo anomalously awesome artisans."

Someone recently gave me a box of Theo confections...and I have to tell you that it was the BEST chocolate I have ever had. In fact, I enjoyed it so much, I started a fan group for you on Facebook. Please let me know if that's a problem, and I'll take it down.
All the best, Cindy

WOW! A friend of mine lives in CO. and sent me some chocolate. He used to live in WASH. One of the bars he sent was your Coconut CURRY!!!! It was truly passion released in my mouth. Amazing is all I can say. I live in Albany, Oregon. PLEASE tell me if you sell your products close by? It was amazing, but I should probably never eat one in public! WOW

I just had to take a moment out of my day to commend you on the amazing products you have developed. I have very recently been introduced to your products and I am already working on my emergency-plan-of-action if the amazing Bread and Chocolate bar ever disappears out of my life! You have incredible and original content that I can't get enough of... especially the bread and chocolate bar!!! Thanks for ALL you do!

I NEVER write to companies but I’m visiting from the east coast and took your tour and I was blown away by the company you have created for not only 1) your values but 2) your product quality. What an incredibly cool place. You could feel the energy and the spirit the minute you walk in the shop and it carried throughout the entire factory. Keep up the good work and please don’t ever stop making BIG DADDY or NIB BRITTLE! My suitcase is full of chocolate and I am just praying I make it through airport security!

Dear Theo folk, As a chocolate lover, I thought I knew a bit about great chocolate... but since I'd never before had a bar of your product, I now find I was wrong. A friend from Chelan, WA, sent me a bar of "Fig, Fennel & Almond." After eating it in disbelief, I had to know more about this incredible treat! So I've enjoyed perusing your web site, and am mightily impressed with your fair trade ethics and production standards. Your combination of ethical production and unparalleled quality has caused me such joy that I absolutely had to pass on to you my personal thanks and hearty endorsement. Now I know what I'll be buying as gifts for others, too!

I've never contacted a company to give feedback before, but your chocolate is so scrumptious I felt compelled to do so. My friend gave me a coconut curry bar and it was so awesome I went out to get one for my mom. I've tasted a few choc/spice bars that were pretty out of whack and unbalanced; but the coconut curry bar has made my day! Thanks!

I was craving chocolate while grocery shopping the other day and I came home with a Coconut & Curry bar. Oh. My. God. Theo, will you marry me?????
thanks so much, Christine

Just tried your "Bread and Chocolate" bar. Oh man, what a great taste! I look forward to more, and plan on turning on my friends to the experience as well. Bought it at World Market, BTW. I HOPE I can find more flavors to try. Keep up the great work, another wonderful thing from a wonderful place like Seattle. THANK YOU!

In my research, I've learned that Hershey's, M&M's, Ben & Jerry's, Cadbury, Nestle, and a whole gamut of others source their cocoa from the Ivory Coast, where slave labor is still practiced. Needless to say, I am more than appalled. Thus, I want to say thank you to you and Joe for pioneering such an honorable company that is responsible in every way. It's pretty inspiring stuff, and I hope others will catch on. So thanks again... and maybe someday I'll make it to Seattle! : )
Best wishes, Kelly G.

A friend of mine and I always exchange chocolates for our birthdays and when I googled award winning chocolates last month, Theo's was the winner! She LOVED them!

I have a women's organization called The Women's Connection... a couple weeks ago I sponsored a table at a "CHAT PARTY" with 300 + women at the Bellevue Lexus dealership. I purchased a couple bags of your "bread and
> chocolate" and had them displayed as samples at my table - what a draw for women! We gave away two additional boxes of Theo's chocolate truffles at the event. I was actually going to see if you want to partner with me at our next event! Everyone thought I was a Theo's rep - I kept saying, "I don't SELL Theo's chocolates, I just love them!" Bottom line, GREAT chocolate! And I KNOW chocolate!

I'd like to have considered myself a connoisseur of fine chocolates...until I had my first Theo that is. This is by far the finest piece of chocolate ever made. I have sampled countless brands of chocolate and have never had anything even close to your Venezuelan 91% bar. Most other brands only get to about 65% before they take on a bitter taste. Go under that mark, and you are only eating chocolate flavored sugar anyway. This Theo bar is all but pure Cacao and hasn't even a hint of "bite" that so far all other brands I have tasted carry. I just had to take a moment and thank you for ruining my taste buds for all others!
Most sincerely, Chris M

Please please please don't take the 91% Venezuelan out of production. I am addicted to it. It is the only chocolate that is dark/bitter enough for me. I never liked chocolate until I found your 91% Venezuelan. I might DIE without it. There is nothing else on the market like it.

I found your 3400 Phinney bars at Whole Foods. I had been wandering the aisles looking for a treat to take the edge off a long day. I picked up the Coconut Curry and the Nib Brittle Dark Chocolate bars. The former is currently in my belly and has left me swaddled in satisfaction. The latter is tucked in my purse for emergencies. Thank you for a fantastic, high quality product with fun fun packaging. I think you guys did this right, and the price point is agreeable as well. Thumbs up!

Please make your 91% bars a regular item. I am forever addicted to them. Like crack they are. Seriously, the day this bar is gone I do not know what I will do. I promise to continue buying them as long as you continue to make them. You cannot give me this chocolate, then take it away from me. Do you think you are gods or something?
Sincerely, Chris H

I just returned from my cruise to the Greek Islands--it was awesome!! People loved the Theo--I presented it in three of my five classes and handed out almost every brochure I'd brought with me. The classes were great--very well attended and people loved them--of course, as we know, it's difficult to go wrong with chocolate.

Dear folks at Theo chocolate,

just wanted to let you know that I really really liked the chai chocolate bar I tried the other day. perhaps it's partly b/c it's made with milk chocolate (which I generally prefer), but also b/c I could smell and taste the chai.
I myself am a chai lover, and brew my own Indian-style chai from scratch, grinding my own spices and using assam tea from India, so I appreciate what goes into chai, and I could actually taste the various spices and the tea.

I try different kinds of chocolate now and then (and you know there's so much out there these days), but yours really tasted good to me. so good I felt moved to write you. most other chocolates have flavors that don't mix with chocolate so well, or I find the flavors don't come through. I liked the creaminess of this chocolate. I'm not sure where my companiera bought the bar, but we live out in Point Reyes, California. perhaps she got it at Toby's feed barn in Point Reyes station? Or the good earth grocery store in Fairfax?

any way, this last Sunday we were in SF and my companiera came out of Rainbow Grocery Store with the coconut curry bar. curry in chocolate? my doubts and scornful look were soon smashed away. I was totally surprised. it tasted like some Indian dish of a meal, which is not what I would want in a sweet, yet somehow it worked as a sweet. It was so unlikely to my mind, but delicious to my mouth and body. I even liked the coconut, which I'm usually not so keen on with chocolate. Usually I just like my chocolate plain. Please tell me, who at your place came up with that crazy taste idea?

I appreciate your flavor as well as your underlying meaningful intent behind your operation. I look forward to trying some of the other kinds you sell.

Regards, David l

My husband and I just visited your manufacturing facility yesterday and we were completely blown away. We've purchased your bars from PCC and other local businesses previously, so we were somewhat familiar with the product, but we learned so much on the tour and had a chance to try your decadent, unique confections as well. Congratulations to you and the entire organization for creating such a fantastic company. We feel that we may purchase your chocolate exclusively from now on, since we now know that: 1) you are the only company of your kind in existence, 2) your process and product is impeccable, 3) there is a high level of integrity across the board, and 4) your chocolates are incredible - subtle, luscious, smooth, and decadent. Oh, and the artwork on the packages (as well as on the walls) is beautiful, too. I'm also loving that chocolate lip gloss (along with all the beauty products). Good luck!
Best, Natasha M
