SHIFT SUPERVISOR | PRODUCTION MANAGER | COCOA ROASTER

 

SHIFT SUPERVISOR
We are looking for an experienced Shift Supervisor to join our team. This position will entail working as part of the chocolate making team striving to produce the most delicious chocolate on the planet. This is a factory floor supervisory position requiring strong communication and team building skills. The responsibilities for the Shift Supervisor include (but are not limited to) personnel management, meeting efficiency targets, maintaining product quality, meeting and exceeding sanitation standards, production scheduling, daily reporting and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Personnel Management Directly supervise production employees and provide training, mentoring and address day-to-day concerns. Ensure that required rest and meal breaks for production team members are taken and work schedules remain balanced, efficient and sustainable. Proactively communicate accomplishments and problems.

Provide employees with timely performance feedback and carry out regular performance assessment of production team members in accordance with Company policy. Serve as a technical expert and coach for team members. Support employees in presenting ideas for improving the efficiency, safety, quality and productivity of operations. Must be able to work to resolve employee conflicts. This individual will be required to hire new employees, carry out performance reviews and disciplinary action if warranted. Production Oversight of scheduling to ensure product quality targets are achieved and smooth manufacturing operations are maintained.

Oversight of accurate and timely completion of production records (work orders). Provide ongoing job training and encourage work habits to ensure adherence to safety, regulatory and quality procedures. Oversee, maintain and exceed sanitation standards to meet all regulatory, company, and customer requirements. Support all established plant and manufacturing goals and objectives. Co-ordinate with engineering / maintenance for necessary repairs and maintenance required by PM Program or as needed.

REQUIREMENTS:
Must be able to demonstrate 5+ years of related supervisory experience in food manufacturing or equivalent

Must be an expert communicator, be prepared to lead by example and be an effective team manager/coach.

Must be able to operate effectively under tight deadlines with constrained resources

A background in start-up companies is preferred Must have a valid Washington Drivers License

Must be able to routinely lift up to 50 pounds Should be enthusiastic about chocolate and our company mission

Must be flexible around work schedules (especially in the winter season)

Salary commensurate with experience.

PRODUCTION MANAGER Food Manufacturing
We are looking for an experienced production manager to join our team. This is a Full time position. Shifts may vary.

As the first organic and fair trade certified bean to bar chocolate maker and chocolate factory in the US, Theo is changing the definition of quality by uniting creative excellence that results in award winning products, with our unwavering commitment to sustainable practices!  Our production manager position entails working as part of the chocolate making team striving to produce the most delicious chocolate on the planet. Organized, flexible, collaborative individuals with a passion for the environment, strong communication skills and a sense of humor are encouraged to apply!

The responsibilities for the Production Manager include, but are not limited to achieving product quality goals, financial targets, sanitation standards, personnel management, scheduling, daily reporting and regulatory compliance.

Direct production throughput and labor utilization to ensure product quality targets are achieved and smooth manufacturing operations are maintained

Ensure the manufacturing operation complies with all Theo Chocolate established controls for food safety and product quality

Provide proper job training and encourage work habits to ensure adherence to procedures for factory safety, GMP’s, Food Safety, Allergen Control, Organic, Fair Trade and Kosher segregation

THEO CHOCOLATE COCOA ROASTER
This is a Full time position. Shifts may vary. Organized, flexible, collaborative individuals with a passion for the environment and a sense of fun and humor are encouraged to apply!

SUMMARY:
The roaster is expected to play a critical role in the roasting and winnowing of cocoa beans to ensure that product consistency, product quality, product output goals and safe working practices are met. The roaster is responsible for roasting cocoa beans and carrying out the destoning, winnowing and milling steps of our production process. When required the roaster will also assist with the refining and conching steps of chocolate making. The position requires diligence about operating equipment precisely, ensuring equipment and the work area are kept in good order and working closely with other production groups to ensure production goals are met and quality goals are attained.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Must have multi-year experience roasting in a production environment with precision processing equipment (e.g. high quality/specialty coffee roasting)

Must have a developed palate and demonstrate sensory awareness and flavor analysis skills

Must be able to remain engaged with the task at all times, work harmoniously with the processing equipment and other team members and be dedicated to constantly improving product quality

Must be able to follow instruction precisely but be flexible enough to deal with variance in raw materials or processes

Must be computer literate with solid basic math and conversion skills and the ability to solve problems and communicate clearly and in a timely manner

Able to constantly lift, bend, stretch and stand during entire shift and use a forklift, pallet jacks or other heavy equipment

Able to lift or lever heavy loads including frequently kneeling, squatting, bending, stooping, twisting, and reaching overhead with repetitive motions

Absolute commitment to working safely around mechanical equipment and moving machinery

Ability to use personal protective equipment (respirators, hearing protection, protective clothing) properly

Salary commensurate with experience.
